Farmyard animals have long been a source of inspiration in art, folklore and religious texts – not to mention idioms, rhymes and peculiar superstitions!
This October, in the lead-up to our Harvest Festival, Newcastle Cathedral presents a series of events exploring the wonders and realities of rural life. In this fascinating talk, folklore blogger and podcaster Icy Sedgwick will offer a fascinating glimpse into our extraordinary and enchanting encounters with animal life beyond the confines of the farmyard.
Join Icy for a presentation focusing on the captivating and curious ways in which animals feature in our cultural tapestry, leaving a lasting hoofprint on our imagination and beliefs.
Please note:
Seats are non-allocated, but there are plenty of seats for everyone, with doors opening at 6:30pm.
Refreshments will be available, and the proceeds will support the Friends of St Nicholas, the charitable group established in 1932 to maintain, beautify and celebrate the Cathedral’s heritage.
This event is ticketed on a 'Give as You Feel' basis. Your generosity enables us to continue programming events like this, maintain our beautiful building, continue our charitable work and keep the doors open for all.
