Count Us In: Visibility Campaign for Women/Femme/Them/Queer/Trans/Othered Comics at Edinburgh Fringe

While we’re at the Fringe this year, Bitches in Stitches is organising a publicity stunt on August 10th, with the goal of increasing visibility for all the women/femme/them/queer/trans and othered performers at the festival.
Basically, we’re calling bullshit on all the bookers who put together lineups of all or mostly straight males, and say that “there aren’t enough gay/women/NB/trans/etc comics” to book on their shows.
We want to show them that yes, we are talented and available, and there are many of us. They need to look harder and make a conscious effort to make comedy more inclusive and Count Us In.
The plan is to meet at Princes x Hanover St on the afternoon of the 10th with your show flyers, so we can stand before the press / photographers (I’ve already hired one and am in the process of sending media invites) and show the world that we may have been overlooked, but we deserve to be seen.
