Join us at Cougar Conundrum | The Olympic Cougar Project as we unravel the mysteries of these majestic creatures, now under threat in WA.A free presentation hosted by Kitsap Environmental Coalition , presented by Mark Elbroch , with Caitlin Kupar and Andrew Stratton.
The relationship between humans and mountain lions has always been uneasy.
A century ago, mountain lions were vilified as a threat to livestock and hunted to the verge of extinction. Their recovery has led to an unexpected conundrum: Do more mountain lions mean they're a threat to humans and domestic animals? Or, are mountain lions still in need of our help and protection as their habitat dwindles and they're forced into the edges and crevices of communities to survive? | The Olympic Cougar Project 's goal is to protect key routes of connectivity among pumas in western Washington. In the face of industrial development, urban sprawl and natural hazards, our work may save untold thousands of cats and other animals long into the future. Join us to learn more and support the effort.
