About this Event
Learn to Write & Perform Stand-Up Comedy is a supportive course designed for people who want to try comedy, build confidence or challenge themselves creatively.
Delivered by Gags for Good CIC, the course combines practical comedy skills with confidence-building techniques in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
You’ll learn how to:
- find your comedic voice
- turn everyday experiences into jokes
- structure a stand-up set
- handle nerves and stage fright
- perform in front of an audience (at your own pace)
No pressure. No gatekeeping. Just encouragement, laughter and support.
WHO IT’S FOR
This course is ideal if you:
- have never performed before
- feel nervous speaking in front of others
- want to build confidence or self-esteem
- love comedy and want to try it yourself
- are returning to creativity after a break
You do not need to be “naturally funny”, that’s literally what the course is for.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Small, supportive group
- Inclusive and respectful environment
- Practical exercises (nothing embarrassing or forced)
- Clear guidance from experienced comedians
- Optional performance — watching is OK too
You’re always in control of how much you take part.
