Cotswold Cycle Ride: Pedal for Maggie's - Volunteering Opportunities

Pedal for Maggie’s is an incredible event that comprises of a 40-mile and a 60-mile cycle ride through the Cotswolds. For the event to run smoothly, we rely on our fabulous volunteers to help in all aspects of the event. Join us in one of the roles below and help us make Sunday 22nd September an incredible event for all involved.

Registration – With an anticipated 150 cyclists on the morning, a smooth operation at registration is key to getting everyone set off safely. You will assign cyclists with their ride numbers, check that their emergency contact details are up to date and help answer any questions about the event. (7am – 9am).

Marshall – Event marshals will be located at road crossings on the route to ensure that cyclists can cross roads safely. You will not have the power to stop traffic but are there as a preventative measure to help cyclists, especially on roads where there might be blind corners. You will be stationed in pairs with hi viz jackets. (Varied times depending on location).

Water Station – Our water/aid station is located at Cotswold Farm Park, which is just before the halfway point. You will help cyclists refill their water bottles and offer them snacks and encouragement to keep going on the cycle. Cotswold First Aid will also be stationed here so you will have our lovely team to chat to. (8am – 1pm)

Photographer – A key part of being able to advertise the event for future years is capturing some fabulous photos and videos of our cyclists that we can use for recruitment and marketing. You will be stationed at either Cotswold Farm Park or the start/finish line and will help gather media for our social channels and future marketing. (Varied times depending on location).

Refreshments – Following the ride, our cyclists and their friends and families are invited back for a post-ride celebration where they will get a lovely spread of sandwiches and cakes to help refuel after the event and celebrate their achievement. You will help prepare the food for their return and then help serve drinks once the cyclists are back. (9am – 2pm).

Welcome Back Cyclists – A big part of our event is celebrating the incredible achievement of our cyclists. For some people cycling this distance may be something they do every week, but for others this will be a huge challenge, so we want to acknowledge how incredible they are. You will welcome back cyclists and hand out medals to everyone that finishes the ride. (11am – 1pm or 1pm – 3pm).
