About this Event
Join author Corrie Locke-Hardy for a fun DIY workshop focused on herbal tea, inspired by a recipe from their book. Gather together, learn about creating balanced flavors, and sample some tea while talking about the importance of community and mutual aid.
Tickets include admission and a cup of tea for tasting.
The Revolution Will Be Well Fed features gluten-free recipes* for snacking on while community organizing, as well as essays and history exploring the connections between food, community, and social movements.
Chapters include breakfast, snacks, and dessert, as well as essays about important events, organizations, and individuals that have placed community at the core of their work. Read about the Black Panther Party's free breakfast program while making coffee cake, learn about sit-ins and strikes while snacking on hand pies, or gather for dessert to honor the people who laid the groundwork for sustained social movements. Readers can carry on the message of valuing community over capitalism through acts, both big and small, that prioritize inclusivity for every member of society.
Author Corrie Locke-Hardy (she/they) is the owner of The Tiny Activist, a consulting business that focuses social justice education and literacy. For their "first career," Corrie spent nine years in the hospitality industry cooking professionally, concentrating on pastry and bread. She worked in a wide range of establishments, which reinforced the message that community is key. This cookbook is a combination of Corrie's lifelong passions for education, activism, and yummy treats.
*Note: The recipes were developed using all-purpose gluten-free flour but readers can easily swap in all-purpose wheat flour. The recipes are intended to be flexible, scalable, and easy to pack. Bring them along to a potluck, your next community planning meeting, or even to the picket line!
