Corporate Risk – Externship Program Overview with Wells Fargo

Program Overview: Corporate Risk’s externship program is a professional development program that will offer you the chance to discover the world of Corporate Risk at Wells Fargo while enrolled as a full-time student. As an externship participant, you will have the opportunity to learn about the Wells Fargo enterprise, but more specifically work directly in Corporate Model Risk or the Risk Modeling Group within Corporate Risk. We are seeking Master’s and PhD level students who are focused on pursuing a career in quantitative and data analytics.

Business Overview: The Corporate Model Risk Group (CMoR) serves as the second line of defense to ensure the integrity of Wells Fargo’s model inventory. CMoR does this by independently overseeing the management of model risk exposures (including monitoring design or coding errors and appropriate model usage) and the quality of model development and validation practices across the company. This oversight extends throughout the end-to-end model lifecycle including model identification, risk ranking, development, validation, implementation, usage, and monitoring. The Risk Modeling Group (RMG) is a first line of defense function and they create models used by the Corporate Risk organization to assess and manage risk. Both CMoR and RMG operate in a fast-paced work environment and place a strong emphasis on thought leadership and innovation to address continuously changing policies and technologies.
