The seminar aims to present and demystify the individuals and entities one might interact with following a homicide. We believe being informed is empowering, and our sessions are designed to help you regain control.
The seminars cover a different topic in each session. You can attend the sessions that interest you.
G - Getting to know the services.
Our guests from local community service groups will review their programs and tell you how you can be eligible for and benefit from their programs.
R - Reporters.
Media representatives will be our guests to discuss media and give contact info. They will outline your rights, give tips for how to get coverage, and how to give an effective interview to maximize your time.
I - Investigation.
Guests will be detectives, advocates, and law enforcement representatives giving communication tips and how you can help the investigation. We will discuss your rights as a victim, explain investigation procedures, and what makes a suspect eligible for arrest.
E - Enforcement.
Guest will be prosecutors, advocates, and probation/parole representatives. We will discuss what happens in the court, your rights, what makes a case eligible for prosecution, and how to communicate with the attorney.
F - Forward or Moving Forward.
We discuss moving forward from the worst experience of your life and what changes you can make to move forward.
All guests will provide contact information for follow-up questions or issues.
