Core Foundations Workshop
Core Foundations
Your core is more than your abdominal muscles. It is a coordinated system of breathing, pressure management, stability, and movement that influences everything from balance and posture to strength, performance, and everyday movement.
In this interactive workshop, we will assess the foundational skills that support a resilient and functional core. Through a series of simple movement screens and practical exercises, participants will explore breathing mechanics, intra-abdominal pressure management, spinal stability, balance, and core control.
Throughout the workshop, we will identify common compensation patterns that may contribute to discomfort, instability, inefficient movement, or difficulty progressing with exercise. Participants will learn how to create a stronger foundation through improved breathing, alignment, and movement awareness.
Assessment areas include:
• Breathing mechanics and intra-abdominal pressure management
• Rib position and trunk alignment
• Plank-based stability and postural control
• Supine core control and lower abdominal function
• Single-limb balance and spinal stability
• Dynamic side plank assessment
• Squat, lunge, and deadlift pressure management strategies
• Glute bridge assessment and pelvic control
Participants will leave with a greater understanding of how their core functions, where their current limitations may exist, and practical strategies they can begin applying immediately to improve stability, movement quality, and long-term performance.
