Soloist Alex Gagne, winner of the junior division of the 2025 Nico Toscano Young Musician Competition, performing Larsson's Concertino for Horn and Orchestra, Op. 45
Crossing Seas highlights composers with personal or family experience crossing the ocean to live in another country, including three who came to the US: Chen Yi (Duo Ye), Huang Ruo (The Grand Song), and Béla Bartók (Hungarian Pictures). These three composers all integrate music from their birthplaces into the broader Western Classical tradition. Also featured are two sea-inspired pieces by women, Seascape by Ruth Gipps and the North American premiere of Julie Reisserová's Pastorale Maritimo. This follows on Cordancia's premiere of Reisserová's Suite for orchestra last season.
