About this Event

A co-presentation with the Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center

CORAZÓN DE PAPEL: Historias del huracán: is an original theater piece that experiments with dramatic performance and the dance of the Afro-Caribbean bomba in conjunction with art projections and the creation of paper sculpture on stage. Esteban, teacher and writer, has lost his job, his inspiration and the illusion of living. The thousands of unaccounted dead people visit him and whisper their stories to him.

The work deals with the transit of people who died during the passage of Hurricane María through Puerto Rico in September 2017. Taking into account the Caribbean relationship between life and death, in which our relatives are ancestrally alive in our spirituality and society, the characters tell the stories of the victims of the events that the hurricane brought, including the absence of an effective response to the emergency of the lack of electricity, food, drinking water and medicines.

Esteban, profesor y escritor, ha perdido su empleo, su inspiración y la ilusión de vivir. Los miles de muertos no contabilizados, lo visitan y le susurran sus historias.
