Opening Day Celebration - FREE Classes!
Puerto Rican Cultural Center
SATURDAY - Aug 8, 2026!!
Celebrate Opening Day of our 29th Fall semester with a free day of community classes in Traditional Dance, Percussion (Bomba & Plena), and Children's Coqui Dance.
Everyone from any culture or background is welcome!
No experience in these wonderful arts required!
Coqui Dance is fun for young children to participate with parents, as well as teens.
Whole families are having as much fun as the kids in this mixed-age class featuring beginner dance, rhythm, music, and games. Children learn the rudiments of our folkloric dances as well our traditional polyrhythmic rhythms. They learn songs in Spanish ("Canciones Infantiles"), traditional children's games ("Juegos Infantiles"), and Taino language, games, and Areyto (songs and dance).
Children receive a musically rich learning experience and progress at a rate tailored to their individual abilities. This class provides the basics to grow into our Junior Company!
This family-style program is for children of all ages, including children with varying abilities who have the opportunity to enjoy music and dance with their favorite adults (parents, grandparents, etc). Although this class is not therapeutic in its intent, all are welcome to enjoy this learning experience.
This class is followed by our Bomba, Plena y Más Saturday class for older students, along with drumming and cocobale (Afro-Boricua Warrior arts) classes.
Try any of our classes for free on Aug 8th, 2026.
