About this Event
As a follow-up to the successful “Culturally Centered Addictions Training” conference from April, 2024, agencies from Northern Arizona will present current resources available for serving rural and underserved populations in Arizona and the southwestern United States who are disproportionately affected with substance abuse challenges and being unsheltered. Culturally relevant strategies and resources related to substance use and substance use disorders are available, however, there is a need to coordinate such resources. This workshop will include representatives of housing, counseling, law enforcement, government, and healthcare to discuss opportunities to coordinate efforts and care leading to better serving the needs of this vulnerable population.
Objectives:
- Describe resources available in the region including in-patient, outpatient, and outreach services for helping individuals who suffer from addiction.
- Identify holes in care in the region, and discuss strategies to fill those needs.
This workshop is sponsored by the Arizona Biomedical Research Centre (ABRC) in collaboration with NAU's Center for Health Equity Research (CHER).
