About this Event
As part of the Government of Canada's Reaching Home directives, communities receiving Reaching Home funds were expected to have had a Coordinated Access System implemented by April 1, 2022. As such, Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership has contracted Flow Community Projects to design, develop and help implement a Coordinated Access System in Saskatoon.
Coordinated Access requires more collaboration among community in order to better serve individuals and families at-risk of or currently experiencing homelessness. This is done by agreeing to standardized community-wide policies and procedures related to access to service, intake and assessment, prioritization, and referral and matching clients to programs and services.
This session is not an information session about Coordinated Access: Before Coordinated Access can be discussed, designed, developed and implemented, it is important that engagement is done in the community with stakeholders to develop a sense of how the Saskatoon homeless-serving sector currently operates and what their vision is for the future of serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the community collectively.
This session is a PARTICIPATORY SESSION - meaning that there will be questions asked and activities planned and your participation in this is essential. Flow encourages staff from the homeless-serving sector (and peripheral sectors to homeless) in Saskatoon to join and give their thoughts and insights.
An agenda with goals for the session will be sent out to participants in the days prior to the session.
Examples of questions that will be discussed:
How does Saskatoon's homeless-serving sector currently operate (current state)?
How does the community ensure clients are getting referred to the appropriate resources for their needs?
How do homeless-serving sector agencies collaborate to serve clients?
What would an optimal collective homelessness response system in Saskatoon look like in a perfect world (future state)?
How do we bridge the gap between the current & future state?
- What actionable steps should we take?
- Who should be involved?
How does Coordinated Access fit into this?
The discussions, findings and discoveries from this session will help inform next steps for Coordinated Access Design and Development in Saskatoon.
