About this Event

Purpose:

  • Accessible workshop for cooking on a budget
  • Demonstration of how to create tasty meals using unpredictable ingredients and minimal kitchen supplies
  • Guided by the founder of Spread'em Kitchen using the 5 elements of flavour

Description:

Join us for an in-person demonstration by Spread'em Kitchen founder, Mellisa Mills. This workshop will show you how to cook delicious meals- that even kids will love- using unpredictable ingredients, a few pantry staples, and minimalist kitchen equipment like a hot plate or toaster oven.

In the second half of the event, Mellisa and Food Stash staff will answer your questions and take suggestions for future workshops!

A bit about Mellisa:

Mellisa is originally from Alberta but grew up in a small town in Ontario with her mom, sister and brother. She got her first job when she was 10 years old, delivering the local news paper. Mellisa grew up eating soy margarine, wonder bread and food bank donations, which affected her in many ways good and bad. She's extremely curious about human existence and has been pondering the meaning of life since she was 4 years old. This has led her down an interesting path of self-discovery to eventually become an entrepreneur in the food industry.

Note: Please consider walking, rolling, cycling or public transit to get to this event. There is limited street parking in front of Big Rock (310 W 4th Ave) and paid parking at 415 W 2nd Ave.
