Cooking with Roo - Young People's Cooking Class in an Art Gallery!

Learn how to make a delicious traditional Indian snack amongst the artwork in the Gallery during our exhibition all about food - Don't Play With Your Food!

Roo invites you to a cook and learn the art of traditional Punjabi potato flatbreads, known as Aloo Paratha. Grab your aprons and learn this unique recipe passed down from Roo’s grandparents. After we’ve finished cooking, we’ll enjoy a sit down lunch in traditional steel thali’s with condiments to complement our flatbreads.

This workshop for young people aged 12-16 will be hosted by Roo Dhissou, an artist and doctoral researcher who works with communities, diasporas and her own histories. Using community engaged practice, craft, cooking, performance and installation she explores how communal and individual identities are formed.

This event is being held in the Gallery as part of Don't Play With Your Food at Sunny Bank Mills. to see what else is happening during the exhibition.

The Gallery building is located on Farsley Town Street. The main entrance on Town Street has a flight of stairs. The Gallery can also be reached by a flat access entrance to the rear of the building, through the Mills' Main Yard (there is an approx 1 inch step on the doorway). There are several disabled toilets on site, as well as free accessible parking.
