About this Event
Learn about cooking with America’s forgotten fruit. Part of Horn Farm’s Wild and Uncommon Weekend celebrating local food, art, nature and pawpaws! Join Liza and Judy for a very special pawpaw tasting followed by cooking and discuss everything pawpaw. Taste and discover the many different pawpaw varieties native to Pennsylvania. We’ll be crafting delicious, practical and unique ways to use and preserve your pawpaw harvest. Hosted by Leg Up Farmers Market.
Judy has been an advocate of native plants at her business, The Gardner of the Owl Valley and at local plant sales. Judy has been celebrating our local native pawpaw for 20 years as a featured menu item for dinners and events. Judy most likely knows more about pawpaws than anyone in York County, except her husband Dick who manages the pawpaw orchard of 50 trees at the Horn Farm Center. Everyone in attendance will receive a copy of her cookbook, Pawpaw Recipes.
This is a whole food plant based class which may include optional dairy and gluten. Class is demonstration style where participants will participate in tasting several varieties of pawpaw, then observe and taste the evening’s dishes. As always you’ll walk away with tips, tricks and tidbits bringing extra value to the experience.
