Cooking with kids: Tasty sloppy joe dinner with the family

Create a family tradition of cooking together! In this hands-on class, grown-ups will assist the kiddos in putting together a meal that is easy to make and will stick to the ribs. Food writer and chef-instructor Shawnie Kelley will guide the class through making beef sloppy Joes with a scratch-made tomato sauce served on slider buns. Shawnie will also share her family’s favorite mac and cheese recipe that uses a variety of kid-friendly cheese and is baked to bubbly perfection. For dessert, vanilla and chocolate cupcakes should appease the sweet tooth of kids and grown-ups alike. You will learn to pipe spring-colored frosting onto pre-made vanilla and chocolate cupcakes and decorate them.

• You will be standing, cooking, and working for most of the class
