Hear from photographer Jim Goldberg as he discusses his new series of pictures that are part of his Picturing the South commission. He will discuss his process and the project with collaborator Laura Wexler, professor of American Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and co-chair of the Women’s Faculty Forum at Yale. Greg Harris, Marilyn and Donald Keough Family Curator of Photography, will moderate the discussion.
Goldberg’s innovative use of image and text and his experimental storytelling over the past forty years make him a landmark photographer of our times. His work is in numerous private and public collections, and he is the recipient of several awards, including three National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, a Guggenheim Fellowship (1985), the Henri Cartier-Bresson Award (2007), and the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize (2011). He is Professor Emeritus at the California College of the Arts and is a member of Magnum Photos.
