Conversations in Three
The Master Piano Recital Series concludes its 2026–27 season with The Callista Trio, one of Canada's newest and most dynamic chamber ensembles, bringing together three distinguished Montreal-based musicians: Laurence Kayaleh, violin; Elizabeth Dolin, cello; and Lucas Porter, piano.
Soloists in their own right, the members of Callista appear regularly on national and international stages and have recorded extensively for labels including Analekta, ATMA and NAXOS Records. Formed in 2024, the trio has quickly established a growing presence in Canada, with engagements in the 2026–2027 season extending to Latin America and Europe.

Conversations in Three traces the extraordinary evolution of the piano trio across three contrasting masterpieces. Haydn's spirited G major "Gypsy" Trio brings Classical elegance and irresistible Hungarian-inflected energy; Schuumann's passionate Piano Trio No. 1 plunges into the expressive world of Romanticism; and Ravel's magnificent Piano Trio brings the program into the 20th century with its luminous colours, rhythmic vitality, and extraordinary instrumental imagination.
Together, the three works reveal the piano trio as an intimate musical conversation–three independent voices listening, responding, challenging, and completing one another across more than a century of musical transformation.
