Back by popular demand - join us in-person in the library or online for a conversation with Dan Shortridge and Rachel Kipp, authors of Secret Delaware: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure. An "armchair guide" to Delaware history, it contains more than 80 stories about little-known narratives, oddities, attractions and ephemera from the First State's past and present -- from the tale of the Cape Henlopen quarantine station to the life story of Delaware's groundbreaking female astronomer. Almost every item is connected to a place that people can visit, but the focus is on the stories.
Rachel Kipp and Dan Shortridge are a husband-and-wife team of veteran Delaware explorers who love the stories and tales of the First State. The authors of 100 Things to Do in Delaware Before You Die and several other books, they both worked as newspaper reporters covering Delaware from Delmar to Hockessin, and have lived and worked in all three counties. They currently work in public relations and marketing.
We invite you to support the authors by purchasing a copy of their book from Browseabout Books. Call-in orders are accepted at (302) 226-2665 or you can stop by the store to purchase a copy. For store hours, please visit their website. Each copy purchased is signed. Copies of the book will be available for sale at the event, followed by a book signing.
