Event Description

The Interprofessional Simulation Competition is an exciting, simulation-based event that brings healthcare students and industry professionals together to demonstrate excellence in collaborative, patient-centred care.

Teams will work through realistic healthcare scenarios designed to test their ability to function effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Each team will be evaluated on its approach to patient care while navigating complex clinical situations.


Competition Focus Areas

Teams will be evaluated on:

  • Teamwork
  • Communication
  • Critical thinking
  • Patient safety
  • Clinical decision-making

The competition gives participants an opportunity to demonstrate their clinical and non-technical skills in a realistic simulation environment.


Competition Format

The competition includes:

  • Four student teams
  • Four industry teams
  • Four participants per team
  • Eight teams in total
  • Maximum of 32 participants

Paramedic participants must register as a team of two ALS providers using one of these combinations:

  • ACP and PCP
  • ACP and ACP

Teams are encouraged to include participants from different healthcare disciplines to reflect real-world collaborative patient care.


Competition Schedule
  • Round 1: 9:00 a.m.
  • Round 2: 10:00 a.m.
  • Round 3: 11:00 a.m.
  • Round 4: 12:00 p.m.
  • Round 5: 1:00 p.m.
  • Round 6: 2:00 p.m.
  • Round 7: 3:00 p.m.
  • Round 8: 4:00 p.m.

Each round will feature one team completing a simulation scenario. Judges will evaluate each team using standardized scoring criteria.

Competition times will be assigned by the Alberta Paramedic Association.


Registration Fees
  • APA Member Paramedic: $20 per participant
  • Non-Member Paramedic: $100 per participant
  • CLXT Participant: $100 per participant

How to Register

Teams must register as a complete group of four.

The team captain is responsible for:

  • Registering all four participants in one Eventbrite order
  • Selecting the appropriate ticket type for each participant
  • Providing the team name
  • Selecting the Student Team or Industry Team category
  • Providing the required information for every participant

Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A waitlist may be opened once all eight team spaces are filled.
