The “Control the Bleed” training teaches you how to stop severe bleeding in emergencies using direct pressure, wound packing, compression bandages, and tourniquets, often alongside the national “Stop the Bleed” program, equipping individuals with essential skills to save lives before professional help arrives, covering both kit and no-kit scenarios for injuries like arterial bleeds or chest wounds. What You Learn: Recognizing & Responding: Quickly identifying life- threatening bleeding. Direct Pressure: Applying firm pressure to wounds. Wound Packing: Using gauze to fill deep wounds. Tourniquets: Applying commercial or improvised tourniquets to limbs. Bandaging: Using pressure dressings and occlusive (chest seal) dressings for torso wounds. Why It Matters Pre-Hospital Deaths: Severe bleeding causes over 35% of traumatic deaths before EMS arrives. Time is Critical: People can bleed out in minutes, while EMS is often 7-14 minutes away. Empowers Civilians: You become a first responder, bridging the gap until paramedics arrive.
