About this Event
Find higher and lower notes you didn’t know you had and learn what it takes to mix across your entire voice in this 90-minute workshop focused on contemporary vocal technique. Designed for all levels of vocalists, this class will help you access a bigger range and learn the roadmap of merging your lower and upper ranges so you have one unified voice - rather than two distinct registers with a flip in the middle.
Participants will experiment with exercises to find their highest and lowest possible notes, learn and explore the development steps necessary to mix lower and upper registers, sing effective vocal exercises as a group, and learn how to improve tone across their entire range. No matter what kind of popular music you sing, this workshop will give you a solid understanding of how contemporary singing works, and give you tools to help you release your whole voice and express yourself more confidently.
What You’ll Learn:
- How contemporary singing is different from (but also similar to) classical singing
- How to reach lower and higher notes than you are now
- Effective exercises to strengthen lower and upper registers
- What is “mix”?
- Effective exercises to help develop your mix
- Choices you can make to improve your tone
What You’ll Need:
- Just a willingness to make some weird sounds!
This workshop is interactive—come ready to make weird sounds and explore your vocal capabilities in a group setting without judgment! And if we have any intrepid souls, we may also work one-on-one with a few people in a masterclass-style format.
About the Instructor:
Adrienne is a contemporary-music vocal instructor and performing and recording musician who excels in bringing a technical understanding to teaching voice. She has been teaching singing since 2009 and is a Mentor Teacher certified by the International Voice Teachers of Mix (IVTOM) to train other vocal coaches toward accreditation.
Adrienne believes in building a large vocal skills toolbox. Once singers can use their voices without thinking about technique, they can use it to express themselves artistically and honestly.
As a teacher of mix singing, Adrienne uses a wide range of techniques to help vocalists reduce tension, sing efficiently, achieve as much power as they desire, sing smoothly across their entire range without “gear-shifting” across bridges, develop pleasing tone, sing appropriately for the genre, and gain consistency from song to song and day to day.
Adrienne loves creating an encouraging, supportive, safe space for students of all ages to laugh, try new things, and enjoy their success.
Adrienne is the founder and owner of Performance High Voice and Music Studio, a vocalist-focused music school for teens and adults, with locations in Broomfield and RiNo.
