We welcome celebrants, artists, creative professionals, academics and others interested in developing more contemporary and meaningful ceremonies, rituals and events around grief and remembrance.

A morning of short talks from academics, artists and practitioners built around our core themes:

Paola Di Guiseppantonio Di Franco Senior Lecturer in Heritage and Digital Humanities.

Sian Fan interdisciplinary artist and artist in residence at Somerset House Studios

• Story-telling & lived experience

Lucy Noakes Historian working on the social and cultural history of early to mid-20th century Britain including death, grief and bereavement in Second World War Britain.

Rosie Grant Independent Funeral Director at Natural Endings and Carole Pluckrose theatre maker, storyteller, writer and celebrant

• Public memorialisation & community events

Jonathan Lichtenstein Working on ways of representing the effects of trauma through theatre work and prose

Ellie Harrison performance maker, artist and artistic director of The Grief Series

Followed by an afternoon of discussion in focused, themed workshops.

We aim to provide inspiration, practical skills and new connections. Sparking ideas for collaborative research, new partnerships, training, professional development and future creative projects.

Attendance is free, refreshments included.

Please note that places for this event are limited and will be issued on a first come - first served basis. If you have received a ticket and are no longer able to attend please let us know so we can give you place to someone on the waiting list.

This is an in-person event. No online attendance or recordings are available.
