Contemporary Florals: 2 Day Painting Course
About this Event
Join us for 2 days of creativity, working with acrylics, painting from nature. You’ll improve your observation skills, and have the opportunity to venture into abstraction.
Date: 16-17th October
Time: 10-4pm each day
Location: The Salthouse, Free School Lane, Lincoln, LN2 1EY
This 2 day painting course invites you to explore the natural world through drawing and painting, moving from close observation to more expressive, abstract mark-making.
Day 1
We'll begin with a still life of foliage and flowers, using it as our starting point for the whole course. The focus is on observation and mark making - working representationally from the floral display, building sketches and studies that sharpen your eye for form, tone, and detail.
Day 2
We'll journey further into abstraction, using the same subject matter as a springboard to explore shape, rhythm, and gesture. You'll be encouraged to loosen up, respond intuitively, and experiment with more expressive ways of working.
Throughout the course, there's no pressure to move in any particular direction. Whether you want to stay with representational work throughout, push fully into abstraction, or find your own place somewhere in between, you'll be supported to develop your own approach and follow your own interests.
