Roni Horn: Water, Water on the Wall, You're the Fairest of Them All is curated by Nora Burnett Abrams, Ellen Matilda Poss Director at the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston and former Director of MCA Denver. Deborah Jack: the haunting of estuaries... an (after)math of confluence is curated by Miranda Lash, MCA Denver Ellen Bruss Chief Curator.
About the Curator
Miranda Lash is the Ellen Bruss Chief Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver. Her recent accomplishments include acting as the Susan Brennan co-Artistic Director (alongside Ebony G. Patterson) of the 2024–2025 international art triennial Prospect.6 in New Orleans titled The Future is Present, The Harbinger is Home. At MCA Denver she has organized the exhibitions Deborah Jack: The Haunting of Estuaries (2025); Suki Seokyeong Kang: Mountain—Hour—Face (2025, co-organized with Leilani Lynch); Cowboy (2023, co-organized with Nora Burnett Abrams); Tomashi Jackson: Across the Universe (2023); Clarissa Tossin: Falling from Earth (2022); Eamon Ore-Giron: Competing with Lighting / Rivalizando con el relampágo (2022); and Jason Moran: Bathing the Room with Blues (2021).
In 2016 Lash and Trevor Schoonmaker co-organized the acclaimed group exhibition Southern Accent: Seeking the American South in Contemporary Art. In 2014 Lash organized the traveling retrospective Mel Chin: Rematch. From 2008 to 2014, Lash was the founding curator of modern and contemporary art at the New Orleans Museum of Art. She currently serves on the board of the Joan Mitchell Foundation and was a 2022 Fellow with the Center for Curatorial Leadership.
About the Exhibiting Artists
Roni Horn (b. 1955, New York) graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1975. In 1978, Horn graduated with a master’s degree in sculpture from Yale University. She presently lives in New York and Maine.
Deborah Jack (b. 1970, Netherlands) lives in Cole Bay, St. Maarten and Jersey City, New Jersey. Jack received an MFA from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2002. Her work has been featured in significant exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum, NY; Institute of Contemporary Art Boston, MA; the Houston Center of Photography, TX; and other renowned institutions. In 2021, a retrospective, Deborah Jack: 20 Years, was presented at Pen + Brush in New York, NY. Her work is in the collections of Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, IL; Des Moines Art Center, IA; Pérez Art Museum Miami, FL; and the Smith College Museum of Art, Northampton, MA. Jack was a 2023 Changing Climate Resident at the Santa Fe Art Institute and a Surf Point Foundation artist-in-residence. She is a recipient of a Fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts (2024), a Soros Arts Fellowship (2023), a Jersey City Artist Grant (2022), and a Nancy Graves Grant for Visual Artists (2021). Jack is currently a Professor of Art at New Jersey City University.
