Flying Together:A Contact Improvisation Workshop
with Shira Yaziv & Megan Lowe (Bay Area)
Sunday, Dec 11th
12-5pm
At Dance Home, Santa Monica
522 Santa Monica Blvd
Description:
After years of dancing, creating, performing, and teaching together, Megan Lowe and Shira Yaziv join forces again to teach an exciting workshop focused on sharing and developing contact improvisation skills that will allow us to fly together. We will explore a variety of intriguing improvisational scores that focus on giving and getting support when moving with others. Then we will dive into some of Megan and Shira’s favorite ways of discovering lifts while improvising, finding seamless ways of flowing into and out of them, followed by connecting these ideas into dynamic contact improvisation scores. Sensing, shifting, supporting, seeing, and being seen.

What is Contact Improvisation?
"Contact Improvisation is an open-ended exploration of the kinesthetic possibilities of bodies moving through contact. Sometimes wild and athletic, sometimes quiet and meditative, it is a form open to all bodies and enquiring minds."
—from Ray Chung workshop announcement, London, 2009
