Written as a musical response to the tragic 1998 killing of gay Wyoming college student Matthew Shepard, composer Craig Hella Johnson’s full-length concert work offers a poignant yet hopeful message about the importance of tolerance, peace and community. It’s a work for “All of Us,” containing a rich tapestry of musical styles, and texts from contemporary news accounts of the crime, poetry by Lesléa Newman, Rumi and more.
We believe singing is for everyone – this performance is a pay-what-you-can event because we aspire to dismantle inequities in the arts and make choral singing truly accessible for all. The lowest-priced tickets for this event are set at $5, but if this is not possible for you, please reach out to us by emailing [email protected].
