Fred Leff, Audubon New York employee at Seneca Meadows Wetlands Preserve and Onondaga Audubon Field Trip Coordinator will discuss the plight of cranes in North America.Sandhill Cranes can be found breeding locally at the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge since at least 2003 but Whooping Cranes are a federally endangered species with an incredibly small population size.
During his talk, Fred will describe the ecology of these incredible crane species as well as the conservation efforts at Rowe Sanctuary in Nebraska that are aimed at maintaining a strong Crane population in the United States.
