WHAT IS THE VOCAL TECHNIQUE BOOT CAMP?
The breakdown of the class is as follows:
1) BREATHWORK – Proper and healthy breathing technique is the keystone of all singing. We will explore the fundamentals of how breathing works for the singer and do a few exercises as a group to get our breathing connected and ready for singing.
2) FLOORWORK – The class will begin to connect the breath work with warming up vocally. This is done on the floor on a yoga mat or towel.
3) SOLFEG – Next we will stand and sing through vocal exercises as a group. Every exercise will be shown by Ms. Garnyé and explained as to why the singers are singing this – what muscle groups it is informing and improving. Vocal exercises will be introduced that condition the muscles of the body and the vocal mechanism to respond healthfully over time, strengthen and stabilize the quality of sound, extend range, maintain flexibility and provide a reliable and solid basis for breath management and endurance without strain or struggle. The technique of vowel shape and placement will also be introduced.
4) TECHNIQUE THROUGH SONG – A small group of individuals will be chosen to come to the front of the class individually and work through a small section of a song that is technically challenging to them. Ms. Garnyé will work through that section of the song with the student, applying the techniques learned earlier in the class to release and transform their technique when approaching that portion of their song.
Ms. Garnyé takes all these concepts and makes them understandable and enjoyable! She fosters a safe space and a positive environment with an openness for questions and joy. Please join us for this fun, informative and unforgettable vocal experience with Julie Garnyé.
