Join us for our 3rd Annual Conservation on Tap Speaker Series! On December 17th, 2024, we'll be meeting at Tanglewood Winery to learn how strategically placed native prairie plantings into crop fields can increase biodiversity, enhance water quality, and improve soil health, while also saving farmers money on unproductive fields. Kathryn Docherty, Elizabeth Schultheis, and one of their students from MSU's Kellogg Biological Station Long-term Ecological Research program will discuss the research they have done and share resources available through the Michigan Prairie Strips (MiStrips) program. Tracey Weatherwax will also highlight resources available for farmers to plant prairie strips through a number of NRCS programs.
This event is free to attend but we highly encourage all participants to support our hosts, Tanglewood Winery, by enjoying some of their locally crafted wine. In return, Tanglewood will be donated a dollar of every drink sold during the event to the Ottawa Conservation District to help support continuing free educational workshops for Ottawa County residents. Thank you Tanglewood!!
Attendance is limited to 40 people per event. Learn more and register to save your spot at: ottawacd.org/events/conservation-on-tap-prairie-strips/
