Conservation at Vizcaya: A Behind the Scenes Guided Tour

Step behind the scenes at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens for a rare look inside a series of Main House rooms not yet reopened to the public following major preservation and capital improvement work.

Led by Assistant Conservator Ella Andrews, this Behind the Scenes tour will explore the extensive FEMA-funded windows and doors project and the complex conservation efforts required to return these historic spaces to view. Guests will learn about the scope of the project, paint analysis and restoration of the interior windows, object deinstallation and reinstallation, and the careful preparation and conservation treatments that took place behind closed doors.
