ConsentLab: Touch
6:30 to 8:30 pm
The Space, 23 Heather Crescent
PLEASE ARRIVE BETWEEN 6:15 AND 6:30 pm. It is important for everyone to be part of the introduction and the guidelines. The door will be closed at 6:40, with no admission after that time to create a safe container for attendees.
Join us to explore the connection of touch and the power of consent in our lives!
What happens at ConsentLab?
After the opening circle and a ice-breaker game, you’ll be invited to make requests of other attendees: “Can I touch your face for two minutes?” “Could you please give me a back massage for five minutes?” "Could we please hug for an entire minute?" Timers will be set, and you'll communicate with each other if you change your mind at any time.
You’ll make requests ONLY of things you want to do, and you’ll respond with honesty to requests that are made of you. You can use ConsentLab to practice saying “no” to absolutely everything, or simply to watch and enjoy being around other people who are connecting with touch in a safe place.
What you’ll experience:
- Asking for what you want
- Enjoying the connection of touch with others
- Making clear requests and agreements
- Communicating your limits and boundaries
- Being seen in your desire and wants
There is no sexual contact during ConsentLab.
You bring and receive from the Lab what you desire, with no expectation on your interactions.
The event ends with a closing discussion of how the the evening felt and what we'll be taking away with us.
Don't forget that these are IDEAS, not rules! We can operate as respectable and responsible people and have different ideas and methods for everything. It's a dance of interacting together and improving our personal connection with ourselves along the way.
