Consent to Sex in Law and Ethics: From Theory to Practice through the Arts
Schedule
Tue May 05 2026 at 05:30 pm to 07:30 pm
UTC+01:00Location
Room 207, Stair Building | Glasgow, SC
This public event explores understandings of consent to sex in law, philosophy, and society through discussion and creative practice.About this Event
Bringing together researchers, practitioners, and community voices, the workshop will explore how consent to sex is understood, communicated, and sometimes misunderstood in everyday life. Moving beyond legal definitions and academic jargon, we’ll discuss what consent looks like in real relationships, how social norms and power dynamics shape it, and why it can be difficult to navigate.
Through short talks and open discussion, we aim to make academic research on consent accessible and relevant for everyone. The session will be co-facilitated by Glasgow-based artist Marta Adamowicz, with a gentle, optional embroidery activity designed to create a relaxed atmosphere and help open up conversation in a supportive way.
Whether you’re curious, concerned, or simply want to learn more, this event invites everyone to engage with one of the most important topics affecting relationships and wellbeing today. Vegan and vegetarian sandwiches and refreshments will be provided.
