Workshop is open to all with an interest in developing the potential of their voice. Prior experience in the Georgian singing tradition not a requirement!

8.03, Saturday, 10.00 – 18.00 and 18.30-21.00 Supra (traditional Georgian toast feast is a part of the workshop, so the entire group participates)

LANGUAGUE:
The workshop will be conducted in English, with the possibility of parallel translation in a small group into Polish for those who need it.
FRANK KANE is a master teacher of voice who studied Georgian polyphonic song, music&culture as well as energetic resonance and body-mind disciplines. He has developed a distinctive approach using ancient Georgian chants as a medium of vocal expression and path of self- discovery and exploration; transforming the patterns that constrict the voice and leading us beyond the familiar.
How he describes his work:
„I have been studying, singing and teaching Georgian songs for the past 34 years. I am as enchanted with the repertoire as much now as when I discovered it, but my teaching work has taken a new direction over the past 16 years.
Inspired by the “implicit technique” used by Georgian singers, the way they sing without really being able to teach it or present it as something detached from their songs, I have been teaching people how to get closer to the energy and manner of singing that we hear in Georgian songs.
As my work progressed, I realized that the underlying principles were not particularly Georgian, but rather universal, accessible to all people who choose to pursue this direction.
First and foremost, this involves awareness of how the body does and can resonate in the process of speaking and singing, and appreciating that this adds a significant dimension to our experience as singers and what is perceived by listeners.
It is not really an exaggeration to say that parts of our body can and
do have their own “voices.”
My workshops involve exercises with vibration and learning (up to) three Georgian songs which then serve as a “laboratory” for individual and group vocal exercises and experiments to see how the principle of vibration can be experienced and how it can enhance group singing.
The goal is to lead each person to a broader appreciation of their own vocal resources, and to apply them to make solo or group singing richer and more satisfying.
These principles are compatible with any style of singing and will be especially useful to people and groups learning and singing a cappella and oral tradition polyphony.”.
