Piloted in 2021, "WELLderness: An Outdoor Wellness Series" was developed to bring members of the community together (in person and online) to engage in activities that would have a positive impact on their physical and mental health and well-being. Throughout the year, people have the opportunity to participate in FREE events that center around fostering better connections to self and the environment.
About the Instructor
Lottena Wolters is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and the founder of The F.L. Wolters Group. She provides non-judgmental counseling to adults experiencing major life changes, personal and professional relationship difficulties, and mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, ADHD and trauma. Lottena has over 15 years of clinical experience providing individual and couples therapy and she has designed and facilitated wellness and stress management groups. Learn more about The F.L. What you will be doing
Participants in this workshop will explore their feelings and practice expressing their emotions in creative ways, including dance, visual art, journaling and oral communication, in order to promote improved emotion regulation. There are also various other workshops that the practice has provided in the past, you can see the proposal concept for each workshop in the document attached.

Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 1:00pm. Check-in opens at 12:45pm.
Where
Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave Northeast, Washington, DC 20019. Participants will meet at the picnic area past the visitor center.
Getting There
By Car, visitors should enter the park on Douglas St and Anacostia Ave at the green ranger tent. Street parking only available. By Metro, the park entrance is 1.0 mile from the Deanwood Metro Station and 1.3 miles from the Minnesota Ave Station, both on the Orange Line. By foot or bike, access the park via the Anacostia River Trail.
What to Bring
Bring with you a water bottle, bug spray, sun protection, and/or anything else one may carry when spending time outdoors. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for being outdoors.
