Connecting the Threads: Free Introductory Tours of the Overlord Embroidery
About this Event
The Overlord Embroidery, commissioned by Lord Dulverton in 1968, was directly inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry. As part of Heritage Open Days we are offering free introductory tours of the Overlord Embroidery which will highlight the connections and contrasts between both historic and monumental artworks created 900 years apart.
The Overlord Embroidery is 83 metres long. Made up of 34 hand-stitched panels, it tells the story of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. Designed by artist Sandra Lawrence it was expertly stitched by the Royal School of Needlework.
Normal admission charges for the rest of the museum and LCT7074.
