Connecting Nusantara Through Food & Language
About this Event
As young Singaporean Malays, how do you preserve your roots when no one speaks your family's native language or preserve family traditions? Or if your kampung is far away in the countryside of Malaysia or Indonesia and you may never get to visit?
In this zine club for 'Balik Kampung: Young Malays Negotiating Home' , we are accompanied by Hafiz Rashid and Azfar Maswan as they share how they keep their Nusantara roots alive by speaking their family's native language (Baweanese), travelling through the region, cooking traditional food and learning traditional folklore. Come with your stories of enlivening your roots.
