October 30: Elementary Educator Training
The National Infantry Museum is once partnering with the Congressional Medal of Honor Society to provide a free professional development day for educators, coaches, mentors, and administrators. This year we are excited to be offering training for those working with ages k-12 in two separate sessions: 29 October for those working with secondary age students and 30 October for those working with elementary age students.
The Medal of Honor Character Development Training is a free resource that gives educators the tools to teach students courage, commitment, integrity, sacrifice, citizenship, and patriotism through extraordinary military and civilian stories, including those of Medal of Honor Recipients themselves.
The Character Development Program teaches students to recognize and exemplify the core values embodied in the Medal of Honor and helps create a positive and healthy school culture. The entire Character Development Program is available at no cost to educators. The curriculum includes individual and group activities, worksheets and extended activity suggestions, and resources such as Medal of Honor citations, live and archived webinars, and an extensive living history collection. Lesson plans are available for grades K-12, with Elementary lessons curated by grade level.
