About this Event
Climate psychology tries to throw light upon the inaction of Western citizens in the face of the climate crisis. What is it about the modern self which has rendered it susceptible to collusion first with genocide and now with ecocide?
In this talk Paul Hoggett will suggest that by confronting the worst that we are capable of we can paradoxically deepen our love for this world. Perhaps this is the surest source for the strength required to work through the multiple crises we now face.
Paul Hoggett is a member of the Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy and, in 2012, co-founded and was the first Chair of the Climate Psychology Alliance. He is Emeritus Professor of Social Policy at UWE, Bristol. His talk will draw upon his latest book ‘Paradise Lost? The Climate Crisis and the Human Condition’ (Simplicity Institute).
This event is a fundraiser in partnership with the Climate Psychology Alliance and all profits from this event will be split between the Climate Psychology Alliance and SIP's low-cost psychotherapy initiative.
