Confluence: lighthouse Meditation workshops
About this Event
BLINK Art Gallery presents a new exhibition of abstract paintings by artists TK Chan and Albert CHUNG. Rooted in the traditions of Chinese ink and Xuan paper while embracing the expressive possibilities of acrylic paint, these luminous colour field works explore the relationship between colour, light, gesture, and perception. Together, the artists develop a visual language that brings traditional Chinese aesthetics into dialogue with contemporary abstraction, creating an immersive environment that invites visitors to slow down, contemplate, and reconnect with a sense of inner peace.
Alongside the exhibition, visitors are warmly invited to participate in a guided Art Meditation workshop inspired by the artworks. Led by artist Albert CHUNG, each session approaches abstract painting as a contemplative practice, using meditation, movement, and mark-making to cultivate mindfulness, balance, hope, and inner peace.
Participants will be invited to sit within the gallery and begin with a guided breathing and meditation exercise that gently quietens the mind and body. Emerging from this meditative state, each participant will use Chinese ink, acrylic ink, calligraphy brushes, and Xuan paper to translate their inner experience into an abstract composition. Rather than focusing on technique or representation, the workshop encourages intuitive gestures, allowing emotions, energy, and awareness to flow directly onto the paper through line, colour, and movement.
The act of drawing becomes a quiet performance in itself—an embodied meditation in which every brushstroke records a moment of presence. As participants create alongside one another within the gallery, the workshop unfolds as a collective performance of ink drawing, where individual expressions come together to form a shared atmosphere of contemplation and connection. Each participant will leave with a finished artwork as a personal trace of the experience.
By bringing together meditation, performance, and painting, the workshop explores the relationship between artistic practice and well-being, inviting participants to experience the joy, harmony, and self-discovery that can emerge through the mindful act of making.
The meditation also incorporates Chung's I Xing Energy of Light Pyramid, a spiritual meditation tool designed to cultivate a deeper connection with both personal and universal energies while encouraging a sense of positivity, clarity, and inner balance.
