The Coney Island Clash, by popular demand, is back!!This event is one of a kind. It's during the Hub Fest. This festival is packed with events and free concerts all in the streets of Historic Downtown Hattiesburg MS. You can google the festival for more info @ www.visithburg.org for the full lineup of events, booths, and artists. It's one helluva good time for the entire family.
The tournament began when the dad of BJ Fokakis became ill with Cancer. We started this tournament as a fundraiser for Billy. Before we could have the tournament Billy's fight was ended. We held the tournament in his honor and athletes from 7 states attended.
The Restaurant: Coney Island Cafe started as a fruit stand in 1919 by the great-grandfather of BJ Fokakis and has been operated by the Fokakis family ever since. It was run by Billy before his passing, and now it is run by BJ himself, Yes the champion armwrestler is a cook. Coney Island Cafe is actually the oldest business in Hattiesburg and is a historical landmark. It has a cool history. You can read about it online too. We ask everyone to have breakfast there Saturday morning before the tournament.
