A country raised southern boy and a contagious ball of energy; Dewey Via is an acoustic, electric and vocal powerhouse. Multi-time winner of both Best Performer in Best of St. Augustine and Best Musician at Taste of St. Augustine, he has notably been called the best flat pick guitarist in all of Northeast Florida. Dewey's performances and adaptability to all styles of music are nothing less than dynamic, packed with unexpected renditions of hits throughout multiple decades from "Hank to Hendrix" woven in with prolific originals.
Performing now for over 50 years, Dewey has become a "must see" and staple among both locals and tourists from far and wide. The Dewey Via Band is comprised of upright bass player and vocalist Bret Blackshear, fiddle player TR Zielinski and percussionist Woody Pernell, who perform at various venues in the area, most frequently to be found at Dog Rose Brewing Company on Sunday afternoons and both the Colonial Oak and the St. Augustine Fish House and Oyster Company on weekend evenings.
