Four veterans of the Los Angeles jazz scene, some of whom haven't performed live in years, play in an intimate venue in San Pedro
About this Event

A group has to be bold to take the name The Jazz Giants - an album by that name in the 1960's featured some of the great talents of that era. The performers at this show are titans of LA's jazz scene now, four respected composers, bandleaders, and musicians who are coming together for a very rare show as a group.

London native Benn Clatworthy's first album was released in 1990, and his edgy style brought critical acclaim and comparisons to John Coltrane. He leads the group System 6 and has his own quartet, and also performs internationally as a guest with other artists.

Henry "Skipper" Franklin has been making waves as a double bassist since his performance with Hugh Masekela at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, and he released his first album in 1972. Since then he has played with Count Basie, Stevie Wonder, Pharoah Sanders, and other artists, as well as releasing his own albums.

Percussionist Yayo Morales began studying music in his native Bolivia, then moved to Madrid to complete his studies, eventually becoming a top drummer in the European jazz scene. He moved to Los Angeles in 2015, where he founded the Los Andes Jazz Project, whose first album was preselected for the 59th Grammy awards.

Pianist, Keyboardist, Composer, Arranger Theo Saunders has been on the international Jazz scene for more than 55 years and performed and recorded with a dizzying array of Jazz artists from Slam Stewart to Carla Bley. His career also includes extensive work in the musical spheres of Latin Jazz, R&B, Funk, Musical Theater, Dance and Opera.

This concert will be livestreamed in high definition using our four-camera system, so if you can not attend in person, you will be able to experience the performance from home. A post-show link will be mailed out the following day, so if you miss the show you may watch it at your convenience during the next week. The livestreaming ticket link will be posted by 25 March.
