About this Event
Two master performers come to Collage for an evening of eclectic and personal music with roots in Americana, country, folk, and blues. The term "Country Noir" was invented to describe Maurtice Tani's songs, and it fits. Tani has spent the past 20 years as an active part of the California alt-country/Americana scene. Fronting his own bands, Calamity & Main, 77 El Deora, he has produced a series of albums for himself and others. Tani has constructed a repertoire of wry humor and darker romantic rumination often described as Oblique Americana and Twang-Noir, but he calls it “Supercalifornographic”.
Ed Tree is best known as a producer for his work with artists like Spencer Davis and Al Stewart, but his own music is both worth hearing on its own merits and shows the sensibility he brings to others. Tree can make an acoustic slide guitar weep and sting or can strum folk and blues with the best of them, and his expressive voice sells his songs. The two will play separately and together over the course of the show.
This show will be available both live or livestreamed in HD using our four camera system. Those who purchase the livestream may watch it for up to a week afterward, so it's available on your schedule. Livestream links will be sent out one day before the show and again ten minutes before showtime.
