About this Event

It is our pleasure to invite you to our concert and fundraising event hosted by Benny Lee in his beautiful home in collaboration with Cubanisms to help raise funds for music students at the University of Arts in Havana.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Concert and other activities begin at 7 pm.

Since Covid hit the world, Cuba has been struggling financially and the University of Arts has been affected drastically. Every year we take donations for students and this last January while doing so, we found out that the University had to reduce the acceptance of Guitar and Cuban Tres students due to the lack of musical instruments and accessories. Cuba has such an important role in music around the world and these skilled students begin formally studying music from the time they are in elementary school all the way through to the University of Arts in Havana.

With your contributions, we can help support their futures, make their dreams become a reality, and help them begin gifting the next generations around the world with beautiful music.

If you would consider contributing, there are many ways to do so:

- Joining us for our house concert and fundraiser - You will have full access to the event, and enjoy Cubanisms concert, art exhibit, and art auction. Wine and beer will be available.

- Share this event with a friend who could be interested.

- Participating in the silent art auction - Michel Mirabal, the Cuban artist who has recently been in Kansas City, with his personal exhibit “The history behind the sheets” at the Kansas City Museum, is donating one of his pieces, to support the University of Arts. The piece will be offered for silent auction during the event.

- Purchasing one of the other Mirabal pieces – Mirabal’s artworks created in Kansas City during his residency, while preparing for his personal exhibit at the Kansas City Museum, will be available for sale during this event. 5% of the sales will go to support music students and 30% will go to the Art-Community project Finca Calunga in Havana.

- Any other ways of donating to the University of Arts are accepted as well such as monetary, guitar strings, saxophone reeds, other musical instrument supplies, guitars, etc. You could also come to Cuba as part of our trips and bring the donations yourself.

- Tax Deductible donations can be made directly to our 501-C3 sponsor Ensemble Iberica. Please feel free to bring donations to the event or get in touch with us personally to arrange it.

- Donations made to Ensemble Iberica are tax deductible under their 501-C3 status.
