Tima Shãwãhu, known as Vovô João, 93 years old, is the oldest mukaia of the entire Yawanawa people and the younger brother of the legendary shaman Yawarani. He is regarded as a living library, carrying the memory of his ancestors and the cosmovision of his people. His knowledge preserves how the Yawanawa lived in the past and how they continue to live today, holding teachings passed down by elders who had little contact with the Western world.
Txana Pexa, 27 years old, grandson of Vovô João and son of Biraci Nixiwaka, lives close to his grandfather and family in the village of Amparo. In his daily life, he accompanies and supports his grandfather’s work, dedicating himself to absorbing his teachings so that, in the future, he may place this knowledge at the service of his people.
Panany, 30 years old, granddaughter of Vovô João and daughter of Biraci Nixiwaka, is a mother of two and a woman of medicine in formation, walking the spiritual path guided by the wisdom of the elders. Her life unfolds between care, resistance, and prayer, carrying ancestral knowledge through everyday acts.
