Join Sunniai Collective in-person for a immersive concert & listening space, celebrating the Yoga of Sound (Naad). Dive into the wisdom of the Sikh Gurus and learn the mantra to Create & Destroy.
CONTEXT: For 8 consecutive years in Spain, the Sunniai concerts have been an environment where people can engage with conversations of sound – rooted in Gurmat Kirtan & Naad Yoga from precolonial Sikh Music – as a means of reflection, self-awareness and exploring their emotional experiences. This year it comes to UK 🇬🇧
Titled Alone I Am Enough, this concert explores how volition is relevant to us: our capacity to choose how we respond to our emotional experiences; and here, particularly our desire for recognition. Drawing on the Indian musical psychology of Raag, it considers the existential tension between unrequitedly seeking another person’s approval and remaining grounded in love when that approval feels absent.
By grounding our choices in who we aspire to be, rather than in the opinions or actions of others, we can move beyond fear, defensiveness and inner conflict. In doing so, we begin to embody the universal qualities of Nirbhao (fearlessness) and Nirvair (freedom from enmity). This music invites audiences to reflect on how they respond when they feel unappreciated, and how the Mood’s prescribed emotions resonate with their own personal experience — without allowing disappointment to dictate their actions as they continue forward in love with life.
