Az angol nyelvű, nemzetközi konferencia a modern (képviseleti) demokrácia válságjelenségeire (pl. a választói apátia növekedésére, a politikusokba és a pártokba vetett bizalom csökkenésére, a választási részvétel csökkenésére, a véleménybuborékok megjelenésére és a növekvő politikai polarizációra) kíván reflektálni. Azt a megközelítést kívánjuk alkalmazni, hogy a válságjelenségek mögött keressük meg azokat a lehetőségeket, amelyek révén a demokratikus rendszer jobban adaptálható a változó körülményekhez és tovább is fejleszthető. E kérdésekhez történeti és összehasonlító szempontból kívánunk közelíteni, olyan alapfogalmakat a középpontba állítva, mint az állam, az állam funkciói, a népszuverenitás, az állampolgári részvétel és a politikai részvétel innovatív formái. A konferenciát az Andrássy Egyetem és a PPKE JÁK együttműködésében szervezzük. A délelőtti szekcióra a PPKE JÁK-on, a délutánira az AUB-n kerül sor.

The international conference, in English, will reflect on the crisis phenomena of modern (representative) democracy (e.g. the rise of voter apathy, the decline of trust in politicians and parties, the decline of voter turnout, the emergence of opinion bubbles and the growing political polarisation). The approach is to look behind the crisis phenomena for ways in which the democratic system can be better adapted to changing circumstances and further developed. We will approach these issues from a historical and comparative perspective, focusing on basic concepts such as the state, the functions of the state, popular sovereignty, citizen participation and innovative forms of political participation. The conference is organised in cooperation with Andrássy University and the PPKE JÁK. The morning session will take place at PPKE JÁK, the afternoon session at AUB.
